As Little River formed from the banks of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, boating, fishing, and nautical lifestyles are still enjoyed by many residents and visitors to the area.

Little River has three marinas (there were four, but one annexed over to North Myrtle Beach across the waterway when developers from out of state purchased the property)along the Intracoastal Waterway:
